WHO WE ARE
Refilters is Cyprus’ official collective system for the management of cigarette filter and tobacco product waste. Established to address one of the world’s most common forms of litter, we provide an organised and sustainable solution that supports environmental protection while helping producers meet their legal environmental obligations.
Working closely with producers, municipalities, government authorities and other stakeholders, we coordinate the collection and responsible management of cigarette filter waste across Cyprus. Our work contributes to cleaner cities, beaches and public spaces while supporting the principles of the circular economy and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
As the country’s licensed Collective System, Rethink Filters is committed to delivering practical environmental solutions that benefit both today’s communities and future generations.

Our mission is to reduce the environmental impact caused by discarded cigarette filters through organised collection, responsible waste management and public awareness.

WHY WE EXISTS
Every year, billions of cigarette filters are discarded worldwide. Many end up on pavements, beaches, parks and waterways, where they remain in the environment for years, releasing harmful substances and contributing to plastic pollution.
Despite their small size, cigarette filters have a significant environmental impact. They contaminate soil and water, harm wildlife and increase cleaning costs for municipalities and local authorities.
Refilters was created to address this challenge by providing Cyprus with an organised, licensed system that supports the responsible collection and management of cigarette filter waste while helping to reduce pollution nationwide.

OFFICIAL RECOGNITION
Rethink Filters is the first and only licensed collective system in Cyprus dedicated to the management of cigarette filter and tobacco product waste.
Licensed by the Department of Environment of the Republic of Cyprus, the organisation operates in accordance with the relevant national legislation governing the management of tobacco product waste and the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).
This official recognition ensures that Refilters operates within a regulated framework, providing reliable, transparent and environmentally responsible services to producers, public authorities and the wider community.
